Through this web site, you have the opportunity to learn about my previous education and work experiences. You can also browse a variety of samples of the type of work I do in my portfolio, and with each page you do learn something about me. But these are simply a list of accomplishments and good works, and don’t really tell you who I am! With the internet being the way it is, you really never get to know who someone is anymore unless you meet them in person. I work with clients around the globe, but mostly in the USA, some whom I’ve never met, but I do my best to remain an open window & available at a flexible times.
In addition to the work I do behind the computer, I also operate a small hobby farm & breed Orpington chickens in a variety of colors. I grow a lot of our own food here and enjoy daily chores like hauling water & feed, collecting eggs, and gardening. Along with the regular chores, I also get to create all kinds of things, like chicken coops for instance! We reuse building materials & scraps to accomplish our goals, each project taking on a life of it’s own. I keep an online blog chronicling my adventures ‘on the farm. In my chicken breeding experiments I’m learning about DNA & genetic composition, which is fascinating and just one example of how I try to stay involved in things that keep the wheels turning.
Food is important to me too! I love to cook & bake, grow great food & teach others how to eat well too and how easy it can be. I’d love someday to be able to offer my home cooked creations & goodies for sale to others. My favorite time of year is Bake Sale time, when I get to bake dozens of cakes for our annual Newport Harvest Street Festival! I’ve even gotten to do a couple wedding cakes!
I’m environmentally friendly and believe that everyone should Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Although I have some concerns that not all Recycling is doing what it’s supposed to be doing. So I’d like to see everyone Reduce, Reuse & Avoid Plastic (wherever possible!!!) I’m not an activist but as I get older I find myself finding ways to help the charities & causes I support.
I travel and participate in some extreme sports activities. My husband is an “elder” in the sport of bodyflight or vertical wind tunnel flying; sometimes also called indoor skydiving. We first taught our daughter to fly at the age of 3. It’s less of a sport and more of a lifestyle that we all celebrate together. We also ski and enjoy all sports with the exception of skydiving as a family unit, since she is not yet old enough to go.
I am an elder in the female flying organization called the Pink Mafia Tunnel Sisters or Tunnel Pink Mafia. We encourage healthy participation in flying, positive self image and offer fellowship to other female body flyers world wide. As an organization we raise money for local and national charities with our focus on woman’s health issues.
As a relative newcomer to Cocke County, TN I am still seeking a place to volunteer my services locally; a place where I might fit well and be able to best utilize my experience to help.
